Roy has always been a methodical and calculated person, analyzing everything and breaking it down with logic. He became this way when he too was enslaved in the Garaiyan empire as a child. During this time he was experimented on just like Zaine was. This is the reason why Roy understands the silence of Zaine and is able to translate the things that Zaine does not wish to say out loud. Instead of drugs, however, Roy was the test subject of many kinds of new technologies that the Garaiyan empire used to create super soldiers. One of these technologies was Bioskin, or Organtech, an organic metallic substance which also uses skin and muscle tissue which it binds with its metal in order to grow, feel and regenerate just like normal skin, except it can be modified. In order to test the efficacy of a Bioskin arm and eyeball, Roy was tortured and his arm and eye were cut out. The arm given to Roy was a painful success, however, his eye was a failure at first. Roy later escapes from the Garaiyan empire with Zaine and formed his own tech company at a young age which turned him into the youngest millionaire and then eventually a billionaire. Roy invented many useful technologies for the average consumers, however, he kept the latest and most innovative technologies under wraps, such as a successful and perfected version of his robotic eye, and extremely powerful weapons, missiles, and bombs he is making secretly for the resistance. He later feels extremely guilty when he is told his advancements in technology were too ahead of the time for the humans on his planet and is one of the key factors which brought upon the ‘Enlightenment’ of their world.
